Good Prevails Over Evil

It looks like Vice-President Biden will be our new president. Good prevails over evil. Trump will not kindly go into the night, but you know what? I hope those who are watching will see him for his true self.

How can President Trump blame our citizens that invest their time in our democracy by making allegations of not following the process? I was in disbelief, and his actions from that podium were dangerous yesterday. It wasn’t comforting!

I pray that moving forward, we can rebuild, renew, and work towards battling this pandemic by taking charge!

I am not fooling myself. I worry that things will get scary once Vice-President Biden is declared President-Elect.

I believe that, for the most part, the people of the United States want to get back to some normalcy, not chaos.

I want unity, not division! God Bless!

My Fellow Humans

Can we stop fighting over who is going to win tomorrow? We are human first and foremost; our humanity is at stake. Regardless of the outcome, we need a leader that will get us out of this crisis, the COVID crisis, and the racial crisis. It needs to stop!

We are in trouble, and if things don’t change? Ask yourselves what this world will be like in the future for our children and grandchildren. I see the bigger picture, and it is disastrous if a shift for the greater good does not occur.  We are doomed!

I sound desperate, and we all should be in a desperate state!

Tomorrow is the day. Who will it be, Trump vs. Biden? However, your vote? We will live with it for the rest of our lives.

This election is the most important one. Our lives depend on it, literally!

Rant Against Hate!

I reflect on what is going on in this world. Have we lost it? It seems that everything I read is about hating over one thing or another. I, for one, rather side on the common good, not hate or evil.

Whether it is political or a critic of some sort, people can be ruthless, not mindful of fellow humans. How about connecting for the greater good, to help, to assist, or to lend an ear.

Every time I hear about the violence, protest, and haters commenting, taring someone apart over a topic or opinion breaks my heart.

I know that this pandemic has not made it easy for many of us and the violence and the presidential election coming up in November.

I don’t recognize the US. We need a solution. I air on the side of humans, not politics! We can agree to disagree.

My Favorite Representative

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”

~Winston Churchill

My favorite representative, my husband, whom I love, ran for a different seat this campaign season, Osceola County Clerk of Court. His reasons for running a different seat? He believed his service is best suited at the local level and expressed the need to be near his mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Although he did not win, he is a true champion!

Despite the Coronavirus, I witnessed John’s determination, his hard work in running the campaign with a small team of volunteers doing literature drops, phone banking, commercials, and mailers. However, he ran into stumbling blocks along the way, challenging the incumbent who was a difficult decision to make due to a 30-year friendship.

Many did not support John during his campaign for a multitude of reasons. I will not mention names, but I am sure they know who they are.

His vision was unwavering, those in power did not like his honesty in telling it like it is, but he persevered.

This man who is John Cortes, Florida State Representative of District 43 of Osceola County, was born in Brooklyn, New York and raised in Puerto Rico. He studied in John Jay College of Criminal Justice and is a retired Corrections officer. John knows all too well the plight of those struggling to make a better life. He is living proof that anyone can be what they set their minds to be and be successful.

His third term as state representative comes to an end in November, and his future is full of promise. His experience as a state legislature will open doors, and he would be a welcomed asset to any organization. He looks forward to future endeavors doing community works. That is where he does best to serve the community.

Political Salsa

“Elections belong to the people.”

~Abraham Lincoln

Let the games begin, and it is about to become a political salsa! Vice President Joe Biden finally made his decision to choose Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate for Vice President. As a voter, it is the first time in a long time I felt hope for our future.

I’m not too fond of the negative ads running since the announcement. It is such a turnoff to me when there is so much mudslinging instead of sticking to a platform.

What happened to ” do your research!”

And when the mudslingers throw their dirt, we as voters should do our due diligence in doing our part to make sure the right candidate is deserving of casting our vote.

Some companies and lobbyists will pour into the winning candidate. I would research that as well. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but to me, it so worth the time.

And for those that are not registered, perhaps, they lost their way. I am here to say, don’t dismay.

It is our right to vote! It is our reserved seat at the table, unite, and together we have the power for change. Don’t give up!

The Primaries are Coming!

“Elections belong to the people. It’s their decision. If they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters.”

― Abraham Lincoln

The primaries are coming, and voters are tense in anticipation of the outcome on August 18, 2020. Many are cheering on their favorite candidates and not caring about how they come across to fellow voters. Realistically, many don’t care!

Dirty politics should not have a place when it comes to deciding on who to vote for, pure and simple, but is it elementary? There should only be continuous research on the voter’s part.

Stop listening to empty rhetoric from candidates and the voters.

Furthermore, let us not forget those groups that put out negative messaging!

In my county, the elections are hot, and people argue ongoing, nonstop to no end. It has become overwhelming!

I, for one, have begun to distance myself from the media, and social media I don’t comment. It does not matter whether it is at the presidential level or the local races; it is all the same all around.

Consider this my rant for the day, and politics can get to you if you allow it.

Human Crazy

“Being human is a given. But keeping our humanity is a choice. “

~Steemit

I find myself reflecting on our current world situation with the Coronavirus. So much going on, I cannot make heads or tails, or possibly make sense of it all. Human crazy! Am I alone on this? Do any of you read this feel the same? I decided to flush all on this page. Let me know if I come across too anxious or again, Human Crazy!

Mr. President

Please help me to understand the method to your madness. Thus far, I see more of madness than a solution. I never thought I’d say this, but I don’t feel safe where I live. Your leadership leaves many questions unanswered. You continue to ignore all of the warning signs, and you are leading the people towards disaster, more deaths, more mayhem, and more confusion. Listen to the experts in the medical field like Dr. Fauci, who is a leading expert in the area of disease control. Listen! Please, Listen!

Mask Rebellion

I implore my fellow humans to see that COVID 19 continues to kill those close to us. For those of you who still feel that this is a hoax, look around. It is real! I am living proof I have seen what this thing can do. Please don’t take it for granted. Wear a mask, and it will save lives!

I recently lost my friend, and my brother tested positive as well as a few close friends, so yes, it is genuine. Many of you are protesting, saying that it is your right to refuse, your God-given right? I am here to say I choose life, and I want to live, that is my God-given right! Do your research! When did this human pandemic become political? It should have never happened; perhaps the outcome would be different.

COVID Rising

If you watch the news, you will see that the number of positive cases is rising, the number of hospitalizations is rising, and the hospitals are running out of space. Even the morgues are filled, and some states have begun to bring in freezer trucks for the dead, but yet I hear plans for opening the schools. Why? Now, our children are in jeopardy and danger? They are as much at risk as adults. Think about it, let us say the child attends the school, he or she may have an elderly in their home, so that being said, this child ultimately will bring in the virus and spread it to his or her family. Think about the bigger picture!

I say all of this in hopes that it will touch someone, make them see that the pandemic is much larger than anticipated, and we are in this together for better or for worse.

Crazy!

While some misuse their freedom to perpetrate evil, millions respond by feeling compelled to use their freedom to do good.~Adam Hamilton

Human behavior is complex, intricate and dimensional and most of all crazy! Last night at my meeting with the Democrats was just that, CRAZY, with a smidge of TELENOVELA, and an array of colorful sprinkles of DRAMA. As the meeting began you got this sense that something was about to occur, you knew it because the air was thick not by the behavior of the members but by the atmosphere.

We got through the Pledge of Allegiance during the meeting; the chairperson began to speak, and you could tell that she had plenty to say. After conducting the business at hand, she began stressing the importance of being a real Democrat, and how changing parties, you are denouncing the party!

Picture this: We were sitting in the front row center,  my husband sat on my left, I sat in the middle and my good friend on my right. They both became very uneasy as this individual decides to make an appearance in the midst of what the chairperson was saying. She was there on a mission to disrupt and create havoc to no avail; as soon as she began to raise her voice to disturb, security was called promptly ready to escort her out. She contained herself for a bit, but it did not last long although she tried two more times to disrupt. She did not belong to our political party, not a member and she identified herself as a no party affiliation.

I am proud to say that the chairperson stood her ground, delivered the message loud and clear. We, as Democrats bound together for the greater good.

Dear Voter: Beware of the Big Bad Wolf!

“The wolf is carnivore incarnate and he’s as cunning as he is ferocious; once he’s had a taste of flesh then nothing else will do.”
Angela Carter

I am reaching out to you this morning to call out! Try and cipher through the negativity dealt with candidates that are undeserving of these attacks, “beware of the big bad wolf!” Beginning with the presidential election,  Hillary vs. Trump campaign. From the beginning, ads kept coming about Hillary’s emails and Trumps tax returns and taking it to the extreme blaming Hillary for her husband’s indiscretion? Whether you are cheering for Trump or Hillary, I say look beyond the crap flung!

As a resident of Osceola County, I see the negativity in full swing with many of the local, state candidates. It is deplorable, disgusting the methods used in attempts to take down an opponent, and individual opposing candidates hiding behind political action committees. It seems like everything is up for grabs, the more sensational, the more votes gained! Those doing the negative ads may think so, but I believe good prevails over evil! It is no surprise that the focus by those aspiring, opposing candidates is to get the unattainable brass ring for those positions of power. Is it worth destroying your opponent’s reputation and family to get it? Personal attacks are not to come into the picture no matter what!

Advice to the opposing candidates running for office and have resorted to negativity? It is a sign of insecurity, desperation and not showcasing a platform worth considering. If you have a stable, secure platform, there is no need for flinging negativity towards your opponent because your platform will speak for itself in the end.

Food for thought!

To My friends and Family of Facebook

There is a negative ad about my husband, and it is circulating Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. It is disheartening when your 13-year-old granddaughter contacts you to question why a bad picture of her grandfather is on her Instagram newsfeed.  She told her mom that she felt uncomfortable and confused!  She is a kid, and it is about her grandfather who she loves very much!

The ad brings up a dark time in our family life. John Cortes’s mugshot is on display in a video slide show making claims of having a history of violence, hitting me and punching our daughter. My husband has never laid his hands on me, and he paid for what happened to our daughter. We, as a family has healed, and we are much stronger for it.

John Cortes for those who do not know him? He is a good man, hardworking and there is nothing that he will not do for you. As your legislator, he has lived up to his commitment to being, “local, vocal and approachable!” He is an  Osceola County resident, and he will continue regardless of countless attempts by his opponents to discredit, malign him as an individual, candidate, and public official.

John Cortes is running for re-election in the Florida House of Representatives, District 43. He has run a clean campaign, but, unfortunately, his opponents chose the latter.

I am disgusted, appalled that the candidates would go as low as dirt to gain votes and hide behind a PAC, which is cowardice! They took a dark season from our life and embellished it, spun it for their political gain, which its horrible and inexcusable!

Thank you,

Caridad Cortes
